Here is my report for the 2018 AGM

Teddington Cross MFC Secretary’s Report 2018
Your secretary maintains a relationship with BMFA on members’ behalf and in addition has this year established a new Teddington Cross MFC website. Our new website is hosted and paid for by BMFA and uses the WordPress ‘back end’ for administration. The first win for the club associated with the change is to save about £300.00 a year for hosting by GO Daddy. Subject to your secretary’s learning curve the site offers a modest but developing range of useful features which include:
A Page for members to offer things ‘For Sale’, a Page with weather for the flying site location and a more detailed report and forecast based at Staverton (Gloucestershire Airport), a link to the BMFA site and a page for members to consult the club rules and flying field operations. There is more to do which include bringing into use a members forum, a Latest News page and establishing links to technical resources about construction, radio and electronics, IC and electric power. Our site is publicly available offering prospective new members information and an application process linked to the club finder facility on the BMFA site.
The BMFA continues to be the source of national competitions, the bi-monthly magazine and education resources for schools and young peoples’ organisations however the debate about regulation of so called drones continues to demand that a strong informed input is provided from BMFA on behalf of us all to discussions with the Department of Transport and CAA. I commend the reports now appearing in the monthly magazine for progress on this matter and offer an opinion that the outcome will be positive and likely to mean that we must become more aware of the regulatory environment in which our hobby operates and possibly raise the profile of achievement certification.
At the beginning of October I visited the BMFA National Centre on behalf of the club. I was entertained by Andy Symons with a tour of the facilities. Suffice it to say the field has no obstructions, runways wide enough for even me to find and long enough for fast jets/large models and even your forever flouting foamy thing. Whilst the centre is too far for a casual visit it was clear that if you are going that way a diversion would be worth finding space for your favourite model. There is plenty of room for tents and motorhomes and there are plans to convert some stables into accommodation and if the standard of the work done in the main building and hanger is maintained comfort will be assured. The reception area is first class and hosts the beginnings of a museum planned for the Centre. There will be some pictures for you on the Latest News page of our website site. The BMFA National Centre website lists facilities available and prices for day/weekend and evening flying.
